Hunts at Beaver Mountain Bison are not your typical bison hunt. A simple drive into a lush pasture with ample opportunities to get the perfect shot are not the norm. The topography includes steep hills with mixed timber, sage brush, and juniper. Weather can be harsh at times. Generally, after the herd knows what our hunting groups are up to for the day; the hunt turns into one most elk hunters would recognize. Tracking, limited shots, and trying to locate the perfect animal. We do have cross fences but, during our hunting season all gates are open which means the bison can cover just under 1,100 acres. The herd has had very limited confinement (like a few days), once or twice through a chute, and 99% have not seen the inside of a stock trailer. These animals seem docile at first but, they are Wild!
